The Beatles Remastered Stereo Box Set was made available in September of 2009 it instantly became the standard for The Beatles discography.
These remastered mixes sound far superior to the old discs from the late’80s. When comparing the remastered CDs to the older CDs it’s like the older CDs are under a pile of wet blankets while the new remastered CDs sound crystal clear so that all of the vocals and instrumentation punch through the mix instead of being swallowed up by whats around them.
The Beatles Remastered Stereo Box Set isn’t the only Beatles box set that came out in ‘09 but it is the most popular because it appeals to the widest range of fans. The Remastered Beatles Mono Box Set is amazing too but it appeals mostly to hardcore fans who want to hear the original mono mixes (because that’s how the albums were “meant to be heard”) than to the average fan. While I will agree with the “purists” that there are some songs that sound better in mono than in stereo (especially quite a few of the pre Peper songs) overall I believe the stereo CD box set does sound better.
The fantastic thing about The Beatles in Stereo CD Set is that it lets you to get The Beatles complete’62-1970 discography with just one purchase and when one considers the extremely high quality of all of their CDs, it makes the most sense to order al of the albums at once rather than buying some.
And beyond the awesome ground breaking music included in this set there are some awesome visual elements, most obviously the DVD with- mini documentaries on it (one for each studio album.) Along with the DVD there are extensive liner notes for each album (there’s some good info in these notes, especially for new Beatles fans) and some interesting previously unpublished pictures.
I am such a big Beatles fanatic that I have got (or I plan on getting) The Beatles in Stereo Box Set, The Beatles Mono Box, The Beatles Apple USB Flash Drive, and The Beatles Rock Band. But if I had to choose only one of these things, it would have to be the stereo set because it’s the best way to hear their music and after all, it is their groundbreaking music that made them the most popular band ever.
David Quincy Jackson believes that you should Buy The Beatles in Stereo Box Set because it sounds amazing. He also strongly recommends picking up The Beatles Mono Box Set for a complete Beatles collection.
