Sex And The City – The Characters And Their Fashion

The fashions that can be found in Carrie Bradshaw’s closet are almost as much a star of the show as she is. Included among the racks you’ll find retro, vintage, Gap and haute couture for and outrageous and fun mix of styles. The most fashion forward of the bunch, Carrie constantly mixes it up and adds a little special something each season by including her signature touches of huge flower pins, Fendi bags and of course, the Manolos!

One of Carrie’s dearest friends, Samantha Jones is a high-powered PR executive by day – wearing beautiful, designer suits of vivid colors with figure hugging styles. In the evening, though, watch out as Sam changes into her TRUE colors to show the vixen that she really is!

Pragmatic Miranda Hobbes has a more austere outlook on her daytime fashions. As a lawyer, she dresses in smart, tailored suits to maintain her professional image and get the job done. She’s also the most laid back of the four when it comes to weekend wear, prefering jeans and sweats to frilly skirts and stilettos. She can, however, when called upon, come up with some eyecatching evening wear that keeps up with the other girls just fine. And that red hair makes her a real stand-out in the crowd.

Miss Park Avenue, Charlotte York, is perhaps the most prim and proper of the characters on Sex And The City. Her perfectly coordinated designer wear is always crisp and fresh with nary a hair out of place. Even when she jogs, everything matches! And talk about evening wear! Charlotte is the reason little black dresses were invented!

As the Main Man on Sex And The City, Mr. Big is a successful New York businessman who prefers his Armani suits. And he wears them very well! We don’t see Big in jeans or sweats. He’s not that kind of guy. We see him in Black Armani, Black limos or….a bed!

I don’t know how Miranda was able to resist Steve Brady for so long! Those beautiful blue eyes behind those glasses get me every time! Jeans and a T-shirt are his attire of choice and I think we only see him in a suit a couple of times throughout the whole series. In fact, the first suit he wears, Miranda has to buy for him!

Charlotte’s lawyer, and eventual soul mate, Harry Goldenblatt appears most often in suits as well. As a successful divorce attorney, that’s what he needs to wear to win his cases. Short, bald, hairy, and a little lacking in the social graces, he’s so dedicated to Charlotte that she eventually converts to Judaism so she and Harry can be married.

Smith – ya just gotta love him! He’s so dedicated to Samantha and he puts up with so much crap from her. As an aspiring actor and fashion model, we get to see Smith with a lot of different looks. And he looks great in anything from jeans to suits to leather….to nothing! Absolut, indeed!
