After the Rehearsal: Fuller returned to film making after a long hiatus with this lucid, autobiographical account of a particular infantry battalion and its courageous sergeant during WW2. Difficult to imagine that one film can pile so much into its narrative, an very rich, moving, practical, and poetic film. Carradine depicts and plays Fuller’s doppelganger, complete with cigar.
