The plot is very simple. Costa Luna, is an island kingdom whose official language is English though it is combined with a strong Spanish accent. Amids the battle, a princess protection program designed for the safety of the princess, whisks the princess to safety so that she does not have to face political imprisonment. The PPP transports the princess from her Costa Luna to the rural parts of Louisiana, USA. Where she meets Carter, a full time high school student and part time bait shop employee in her father’s store. Since Carter’s dad is part of the PPP, he needs to go on a mission urgently and so entrusts the princess in his daughter’s care.

Carter has to now teach the snobby princess, Rosie to act normal, and blend in to the school atmosphere so that she is not detected by any spys. This is a job that both hate equally. In order to help Rosie get rid of her snobby behaviour and princess mannerisms, Carter cracks down on Rosie, thoroughly enjoying the role. Carter herself is picked on very often, and is not very popular at school. Rosie and Carter pretend that they are couzins while in school. Though this is not very agreeable to both the girls they have to strive to get along with each other for the sake of the princess and for the sake of the promise made by Carter to her father.

Rosie’s mother was left behind. She is now held captive by the General who forces her to marry him. This plot is what leads to the film’s climax. The story quite interestingly captures the development of the bond between the girls as it grows in their day to day association as they study, play and try working part time together. Each of the girls becomes a teacher to the other. Carter learns how to act like a princess though she is not one and Rosie learns how to be a normal person though she cannot be one.

The movie leaves you with a lesson that says that you don’t have to be born in to a royal family to know how to behave like one. It instills acceptance of others and one self as an important aspect of life. It gives teaches that friendship is to be valued and cherished. The music is great. You’ll see just what Michael experiences in his daily rehearsals and just what a “perfectionist” he was. He was strong and moved effortlessly across the stage, singing and pouring his soul out, song after song.

“This is it” gives you a glimpse behind the scenes and what the King of Pop experiences to create such a huge show. It shows Michael strong and moving effortlessly, singing and dancing wonderfully as he always does, pouring his heart out, song after song, joking and laughing with his staff and team members.

You can see that he always wanted everyone to laugh and have fun. It was very interesting to watch Michael because he was such a perfectionist and it showed.

The “This Is It” documentary film truly shows that Michael was happy and healthy in the weeks leading up to his death. One can’t help but question why.

Apart from his acting, the stunts he pulls off are just outright brilliant, especially the one where he goes under the fast moving bus to try to get rid of the bomb.

The character of Annie Porter is played by Sandra Bullock. She is one of the few unfortunate people who climb onto this bus and has to quickly adapt to the situation as she takes control of steering wheel after the driver is shot. Her character portrays a strong yet emotional woman, who is trying hard to keep the bus going at over 50 mph in tough conditions. Once she lets go of the steering wheel and almost gets everyone killed because she thinks she has run over a baby stroller but soon finds out to her and others relief, that there was no baby in the stroller.

All in all, the movie has some great performances from the main stars and director Jan de Bont showcases his brilliance with some well directed action scenes. In addition, the character of Payne provides some humor and some really catchy phrases that stay in your head even after the movie is over.

The year in which the movie was released it received two Academy awards, though many feel it deserved more.
