Things To Consider When Researching Kids Cell Phones

My parents never had to make a decision about what age to let me have a cell phone because they werent invented yet. Parents now though, are faced with many such decisions that have never had to be faced in the history of time. Cell phones, handheld game machines, and computers are all things that children want now at a very young age and some parents dont want their children to grow up that quickly.

Children love gadgets and they love kids cellphones. They are asking for them at an earlier and earlier age that prompts the question of just when is it the right time to set your child up with a cell phone? There is a possible safety factor in that, supplied with a cell phone, your child can be in closer contact with you. But of course kids really want cell phones to talk to their friends and not their parents. There is the delicate balance of figuring out what time in life is too soon for some things such as a cell phone.

Adults can find cell phone models for a dime a dozen in today’s market. Even the cheapest phones are still outfitted with cameras, texting, GPS, web browsing, and so on and so forth. However, kids don’t have as many options for different child’s cell phone models, if you’ve made the decision that they should have one. There are no frills associated with kid’s cell phones; they often just have the bare essentials.

Even though kids would love to have all the extra stuff on their phone, they don’t need it, and a lot of parents don’t want them to have it. There are feature on kid’s cell phones though, that help with safety, like filtering out numbers that are unknown and keys that can be programmed so they can call you by just pushing one particular button. Having less of a choice for a child’s cell phone makes it easier to choose one for them than it would be to pick one of the many different models for yourself.

When it comes to phone plans for kids phones, the prepaid ones might be the best option. Although prepaid phones and prepaid cell phone plans exist, there are not nearly as many as the regular ones. Cell phone companies don’t really have to put that many prepaid options out there because people are so used to spending a monthly fee. The phone companies would rather have you go with a regular monthly plan over a prepaid one because they make more from you. But if you want a plan for your child, you probably are better off with a prepaid phone especially in the beginning.
