Cell phone companies don’t really have to put that many prepaid options out there because people are so used to spending a monthly fee. The phone companies would rather have you go with a regular monthly plan over a prepaid one because they make more from you. But if you want a plan for your child, you probably are better off with a prepaid phone especially in the beginning.
